Different organisations celebrate Teachers’ Day, pay rich tribute to Dr Radhakrishnan

SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Different organisations here today celebrated Teachers’ Day and paid glowing tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated by the Centre for Comparative Religion and Civilizations (CCRC) at Central University of Jammu under the leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor. Faculty members as well as students discussed the roles of teachers in the era of Artificial Intelligence. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Niranjna Bhandari, Director CCRC said that teachers help in the development of students’ personality as well as their career. Among others present on the occasion were Dr. Arvind Rituraj, Dr. Vikas Singh, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Amita Gupta, Dr. G.V Snigdha Raj, Narrottam, Naresh, Rohit, Arpit Sunil, Deewanshu, Aman, Aditi, Vishal, Himanshi, Oisvie, Renu, Sonia Sourav and Anjli.
Dogra Educational Trust (DET) celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm. An event in this regard was jointly organised by Dogra Law College, Dogra Degree College and Dogra College of Education where tributes were paid to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day throughout India. R.S Katal, Member Advisory Committee and Governing Body of DET and Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary DET paid floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Dr. Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges; Dr. Dharamveer Sharma, Dean Dogra Group of Colleges; Dr. Gitika Sehgal, Coordinator, DET; Dr. Jay Prakash Srivastava, Principal Dogra Law College; Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education and Dr. Shefali Sharma, Management Representative, DET.
Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra celebrated Teachers’ Day. Since the College premises remain submerged due to recent floods and heavy rainfall and unusable for any gathering, the programme was organized outside. This year’s Teacher’ Day was around the theme: “Teachers: Our Strength in Adversity – A Tribute by Students of GDC Sidhra on Teachers’ Day.” The programme was organised under the supervision of GDC Principal, Prof. Seema Mir and she encouraged the students to remain positive, assuring that adversity, though difficult, bring opportunities for growth and renewal.
Teachers’ Day was also celebrated by United School Teachers Association (USTA) affiliated with School Teachers Federation of India (STFI) at Dayalachack in Kathua. Teachers from districts Kathua, Samba, Jammu etc paid rich tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The Forum president, Pardeep Singh Jamwal while speaking on the occasion asked the teachers to work on the lines of the great supporter of humanism. The advisor, Banarsi Dass threw light on the life and achievements of Dr. Radhakrishnan.
The National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM), Jammu celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm. The programme began with paying of tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day across the country. Students and staff members expressed their gratitude by presenting speeches, poems and cultural performances dedicated to teachers. Speaking on the occasion, Kavita Bali, secretary NILM emphasized that teachers are true nation-builders who nurture knowledge, discipline and moral values among students. The celebration concluded with vote of thanks by Ritu Dubey. Staff and students who participated in the event were Kiran Sharma, Tania Dogra, Priyanka Sharma, Ritu Dubey, Sakshi Thakur, Rishika, Mansi Chib, Siya, Chahat, Aqilla, Manit, Navneet and Abrar.
MLA Reasi, Kuldeep Raj Dubey attended Teachers’ Day celebration at Primary School in Ikhani located in Pouni zone of Reasi and presented floral tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The MLA lauded dedication of the teaching community and their pivotal role in shaping future of the nation. A key highlight of the celebration was felicitation of Sanjeev Sharma, a National Awardee Teacher. The function was attended by DDC Pouni, Tehsildar Pouni, BDO Pouni, BDC K.K Sharma, Naib Tehsildar Ransoo, BDC Vijay Kumar, Sarpanch Kotla, Samsher Singh, Sher Mohd and others.
Members of Innerwheel Club Jammu Sampark visited Louis Braille School for Sightless Girls, Roopnagar, Jammu and celebrated Teachers’ Day. They gave the School inmates Braille sheets along with kitchen and toilet items. The School is run by National Federation of Blind, New Delhi. The School president Rattan Prabha organised a cultural programme. Others present on the occasion were Charter president, Reva Raina, past president, Anila Mengi, vice president Kusum Kesar, Anuradha Manhas, Anuradha Sharma, Sushma Chouan and Kamlesh Shoor.
To celebrate Teacher’s Day 2025, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production presented a musical play ‘Gurukul’ emphasizing the inspiring role of teachers. The play was written, produced and directed by Dr. M.L Dogra, former Regional Director Song and Drama Division. The programme was inaugurated by V.K Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity. Dr. Tara Singh Charak, former Deputy Director, Health Department, Dr. Anju Dogra from J&K Health Department and Mukesh Singh were guests of honour.
