DODA, June 30: To create awareness among the students living in rural areas about the benefit and role of Newspapers in the development of society, District Information Centre, Doda organized a Debate on the topic “Role of Newspaper in Society” in the premises of Government Middle School, Old Malikpura, Bhatyas, here.
Various students drawn from different schools of the region participated in the Debate Competition which included GMS Gujjarwari, GMS Pullaie, GMS Pullaie Bunjar, GMS Old Malikpura and Rafiq Evergreen Primary School Malikura.
12 students participated in the debate competition and expressed their views and deliberated about the role of print media in the development of modern Indian society especially newspapers. Khalid Masroos of Class 8th, Afreena Anjum of Class 7th and Younish Saleem of Class 7th were adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the debating competition.
Later after the debate competition a colorful cultural programme was presented by the artists of District Information Centre, Doda which kept the audience spell bound. Various other local and budding artists of the region also presented their cultural programmes in Bhaderwahi, Kashmiri, Gojri, Urdu, Siraji, Dogri and Hindi which mesmerized the audience.
MH Malik Social worker was the chief guest on the occasion, while Atta Mohd presided over the function.
Issaq Rashid Tehsil Secretary Teachers Forum, Zafferullah Malik Social Worker and Jaffer Hussain Headmaster GMS Old Malikpura were also present on the occasion.
