JAMMU, Mar 12: Holding his nerves in the pressure-cooker scenario, talented Deepak Dogra struck a massive sixes at a crucial stage when Srinagar Ke Veer needed 10 runs off 4 balls against Chennai Singams to help his team script a thrilling win by 3 wickets and seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing prestigious Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) at Dadoji Kondev Stadium, Thane, Maharashtra.
Deepak is the only boy from J&K representing iconic film star Akshay Kumar and famous Bollywood actor Sunit Morarjee owned the ‘Srinagar Ke Veer’ team.
Needing 16 runs in the last over, Lokesh smashed a six off the very first ball and got out on the second one, sending Deepak Dogra to bat, who smashed a six on the very first ball he faced which was the third ball of the over to make the chase easier for his team. Though he was dismissed on the next ball but Srinagar Ke Veer managed a win on the penultimate ball of the over.
Lokesh played a brilliant innings of power-packed 49 runs.
Earlier, batting first, Chennai Singams scored a good total of 109 runs in 10 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process.
Bablu Patil (37) and Sagar Ali (21) were the main contributors.
For Srinagar Ke Veer, Bhushan Gole took 3 wickets while Rajesh Sotre claimed one.
Deepak, in the earlier match against Manji Mumbai on the other day, had scored 6-ball 13 with one six and one four. Presently he is batting down the order and he can be more impactful if he is promoted in the batting order by the team management.
Team owner Akshay Kumar and Co-owner Sunit Morarjee appreciated Deepak for his explosive batting.
