District-Level Inter-Zone Kabaddi meet held

UDHAMPUR, May 28: A vibrant display of athleticism and youth empowerment unfolded at the Mini Stadium Udhampur, where the District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO), under the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K UT, inaugurated the District-Level Inter-Zone Kabaddi meet for Boys (U-14 & U-17).
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai. The meet is being held under the supervision of Romesh Chander Mishra. Addressing the gathering, DC Rai said, “Sports build not just strong bodies, but strong communities. I urge all participants to embrace physical activity as a key to mental resilience and holistic well-being.” She lauded the DYSSO team for promoting grassroots sports and stressed the importance of youth involvement in positive initiatives.
As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Rai encouraged participants to take an anti-drug pledge, adding, “Students who take the pledge will become youth ambassadors for this vital cause.”
Kabaddi matches kicked off the meet, with Zone Jib winning both U-14 and U-17 categories and Zone Pancheri finishing as runners-up. The event concluded with DC Rai interacting with athletes and reaffirming the administration’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
