UDHAMPUR, Dec 8: A grand wrestling competition was held today in the village of Channi Targwal, with around 100 thrilling matches taking place. The event was graced by chief guests Darshan Singh Chib and Baba Chanchal Singh, who added to the significance of the occasion. The wrestling committee also paid tribute to the late MLA of Nargota Assembly, Devendra Singh Rana.
The competition featured intense matches across various categories. In the first Mali contest, Mirza, a wrestler from Iran, triumphed over Parvinder General, winning a tractor. The runner-up, Parvinder, was awarded Rs 2 lakh in cash. The second Mali saw Janti Gurjar from Delhi defeat Chhota Saddam from Hoshiarpur. Janti was rewarded with a Bullet motorcycle, while Saddam received Rs 1 lakh.
In the third Mali, Viniya from Jammu emerged victorious against Tuminder from Gwalior, winning Rs 1.5 lakh, while Tuminder received Rs 1 lakh. The fourth Mali saw Dev Thapa from Nepal defeat wrestler Haridwar. Dev Thapa received Rs 1.5 lakh, while Haridwar took home Rs 1 lakh.
Sarpanch Prashant Sharma, along with Dangal Committee members Ajay Sharma, Arjun Sharma, Ranjeet Verma, Rishu Pawar, and others, were present at the event. The competition was a grand success and celebrated the spirit of wrestling in the region.
