JAMMU, Jan 13: A 10-day production-oriented drama workshop was conducted by D-Drama at the Scottish Hall Academy, Alexander Memorial School, Jammu, during the winter break from January 2 to 12. The workshop was led under the mentorship of renowned theatre practitioner Delight William Kler.
The workshop culminated in a thought-provoking theatrical production that examined the contemporary education system and the challenges faced by children in today’s fast-paced world.
Through engaging performances, the play addressed pressing issues such as exam stress, academic pressure, competition and the mental health of children, striking a deep emotional chord with the audience.
The production also offered a message of hope, highlighting how the new education policy envisions a more holistic, child-centred approach to learning, fostering creativity, emotional well-being, and overall development.
The event was graced by Pallavi Gillani, eminent architect and interior designer, as the chief guest and Shakti Sharma, Inspector, Jammu & Kashmir Police, as the guest of honour. Several eminent members of society were present, lending their support and encouragement to the young performers.
The performance received an overwhelming response, with parents and audience members giving a standing ovation, appreciating both the social relevance of the theme and the confidence and maturity displayed by the children.
The workshop reaffirmed D-Drama’s commitment to Theatre in Education, using drama as a powerful tool for awareness, expression, and holistic development of children.
