JAMMU, Dec 30: The Cluster University of Jammu organised open selection trials for the Women’s Cricket Team to select players for the forthcoming North Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament, scheduled to be held at Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, in January 2026. The trials were conducted at Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Prof DS Manhas, Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, was the chief guest and was welcomed by Dr Vinod Bakshi, Director, Physical Education and Sports, CLUJ. Prof Manhas appreciated the efforts of the Sports Department in promoting women’s sports and assured full support from the university administration. Dr Vinod Bakshi highlighted that the trials were conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Prof Sharadha Anand, Convener Sports Committee, GCW Gandhi Nagar, also welcomed the dignitaries. The selection panel comprised Dr Roopali Slathia, Kajal Premi and Ramandeep Karalia.
The selected players are Neemami Slathia, Reetika Sharma, Preetika Sharma, Kangna Manchanda, Suhanni Puri, Radhika Sharma, Mandeep Kour, Saba Khatoon, Simran Charak, Kiran Katoch, Deepshikha Sharma, Akriti Sharma and Akshara Rajput, while Charu Bhagat and Bindu Salgotra were named as standbys.
