CUJ celebrates 9th Foundation Day

JAMMU, Mar 1: The Cluster University of Jammu marked its 9th Foundation Day with a grand event at the auditorium of PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The occasion was graced by Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), as the chief guest. Other distinguished dignitaries in attendance included Abdul Majeed Bhat, Director Finance, Higher Education Department, Govt. of J&K, Prof. Geeta Sumbli, Dr. Jatinder Khajuria (Former Registrar CLUJ), Prof. Z. A. Hashmir (Former Controller CLUJ), Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dr. Sanjay Verma, Prof. SP Sarswat, Prof. B. B. Anand, and Ankur Mahajan, Registrar of Cluster University of Jammu. The event was also attended by Deans of various Schools, Principals of Constituent Colleges, Associate and Assistant Deans, faculty, non-teaching staff, Student Council members, and students from the university’s schools and constituent colleges.
The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the university’s journey of knowledge, progress, and enlightenment. Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar, Dean Student Welfare, delivered the formal welcome address, emphasizing the importance of introspection and continual growth. Dr. Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, reflected on the university’s mission to provide accessible education and discussed its remarkable achievements.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances, showcasing the creativity and talent of students. A special documentary was also screened, highlighting the university’s journey and milestones. To honor student excellence, awards were presented for achievements in Sports, Cultural Activities, NSS, and NCC, recognizing those who have contributed significantly to the university’s success.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Chandrasekar reiterated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and sustainable growth. Prof. Jawaid Iqbal lauded Cluster University of Jammu for being one of the leading institutions in the region, stressing the importance of embracing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to shape future-ready students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Monika Sharma, Dean of Humanities and Liberal Arts.
