SAMBA, July 27: Catholic Social Service Society (CSSS) organized a three days residential Summer Camp for the leaders of Children Peace Committee; a community based group formed as a part of Aman Jyothi peace building programme in St Mary’s Convent School, Smailpur, here. Around 70 children from 40 villages attended the programme.
The main purpose of the Summer Camp was to sensitize the children about the importance of peace building and motivating them to be an effective medium to sow the seeds of peace in their respective villages.
The main facilitators of the camp included Fr Justin Thiraviam, Fr Ashwin Leo, Fr Stalin Raj, Fr Joseph Kalathil, Sr Suma, Niamat Ali and Jobin Joseph.
It was rich with meaningful sessions, with group based interventions, interactive sessions, games and recreational activities, competitions, cultural programmes etc with a purpose to make the children enjoy, learn and grow.
The winners of various competitions were awarded with prizes. Sikhender Kumar from Tharuchak Village, Marh and Sonia Kumari from Dabuj Village, Samba were selected as the best male and female campers respectively.
