KISHTWAR, Dec 24: The District Administration Kishtwar, under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan and in partnership with the YUVA Society hosted cricket trials for identifying cricket talent among local Youth for the Global T20 tournament.
The event, organized under the ambitious Khelo India, Mission Youth and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiatives, drew an overwhelming response from young cricket enthusiasts from across the Chenab region.
The trials, aimed at providing local talent with a global platform, witnessed the active participation of skilled players, underscoring Kishtwar’s potential to nurture world-class athletes.
The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and sports development. The cricket trials offered aspiring players a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their skills and secure a spot in an international tournament.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities, including Surinder Khanna (Former Indian Cricket Player), Mushtaq Rather (Chief Coordinator for Jammu & Srinagar and Ex-Coach, Ranji Trophy), along with other prominent experts from the cricketing fraternity.
The trials saw enthusiastic participation from local players, students and aspiring cricketers from across the Chenab Valley. The players showcased their skills and talent in front of an experienced panel, aiming for selection to the Global T-20 Battle to be held in Dubai.
In his address, the DC expressed his delight at the overwhelming response from young cricketers. He emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and career opportunities for the youth of the District.
The trials will continue tomorrow providing talented cricketers an excellent opportunity to showcase their skills. Interested players are encouraged to participate and make the most of this golden chance to pursue their cricketing aspirations.
