Cricket match for visually impaired held

SRINAGAR, June 18: In a celebration of talent and inclusion, a special cricket match for visually impaired players was organized at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Bugam, Kulgam. The event was conducted by Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline NGO in collaboration with the District Administration and GHSS Bugam.
Two teams SB Titans, led by Showkat Ahmad Lone and Rising Stars, captained by Yasir Ahmad participated in the match. SB Titans won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a strong target of 145 runs. Mohammad Shafi from Badimarg, Shopian, was the star performer, scoring an unbeaten 74 runs. Abid Hussain Dar of Rising Stars impressed with both bat and ball, scoring 40 runs and taking three wickets.
In response, Rising Stars were bowled out for 90, securing a win for SB Titans. Mohammad Shafi was named ‘Man of the Match’. Padma Shri awardee Javed Ahmad Tak, the chief guest, applauded the players and emphasized the importance of equal opportunities and rights for persons with disabilities as per the RPWD Act, 2016. District officials including ADC Waqar Ahmad ensured arrangements for the players, including food and accommodation.
