JAMMU, Feb. 5: Christian Sports XI drubbed KC Sports XI by 11 runs in a thrilling contest and lifted the 2nd JKP New Year Under-15 Boys T20 Tri-Series played at Parade Ground, here today.
The tournament in which 3 teams namely JKP Juniors, Christian Sports Juniors and KC Sports Juniors are participated was organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Depart-ment, Simula Sports Club and Christian Sports Organization. Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy Player and Chief Prosecuting Officer was the organizing secretary of the tournament and the organizing Committee included Hilal Rather, Sanjay Mahajan, David Mattoo, Asif Gill, Rajesh Dhar, Sunil Sambyal and Sunny Gill.
Shakeel Ahmad Beig, retired DIG Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function.
The chief guest accompanied by Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer distributed trophies and medals among the winners and runners-up teams.
In his address, Shakeel Beig lavished praise for the organizing secretary for conducting the event in tender age group, which he termed as an uphill task.
He further said that constitution of a JKP Junior Cricket team is a great initiative as it will provide an opportunity to the wards of policemen who otherwise remain busy in duties.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Christian Sports XI won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 177 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Kanaihya was the top scorer with 101 runs, while Yuvraj contributed 42 runs to the total. Rishav was the bowler who took 1 wicket for KC Sports Club.
In reply, KC Sports XI could not achieve the target and made 166 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 18 overs, thus lost the match by 11 runs. Ashank played a brilliant innings of 86 runs, while Dikshant contributed 40 runs to the total.
For Christian Sports XI, Rahul took 1 wicket for his team. Kanahiya was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant century, which was his second consecutive ton.
The match was officiated by Vinod, Sanju and Sandeep Manchanda and the proceedings of the valediction function were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and Sunny.
