Rajouri, July 15: The National Development Foundation (NDF) Jammu, in collaboration with the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Rajouri and UNICEF India formed three children’s and adolescent groups in Sawni, Chatiar and Doongi villages of Rajouri district. A large number of children and adolescents participated enthusiastically in the sensitisation sessions and group formation.
At Sawni and Chatiar, the awareness session was addressed by Abdul Raheem (DCPO and District Social Welfare Officer, Rajouri), Rajiv Kumar Khajuria (Founder and Honorary Patron, NDF), Shahzad Lone (Member, Child Welfare Committee), Sunny Kumar (Programme Manager, NDF) and Nisha Pandita (Protection Officer, NDF). At Doongi, the session was addressed by Anwar Choudhary (Zonal Education Officer) and Suresh Choudhary (CWC Member), among others.
Speakers highlighted the Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act and the constitutional rights of children, calling for collective efforts to ensure their safety, development, and protection. Prominent attendees included Mehta & Shah (lecturers), Madan Sharma (Retired Tehsildar), former sarpanches Vinid Sharma and Joginder Singh, and local residents Anil Sharma, Vicky Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Munish Sharma and Daleep Kumar.
Abdul Raheem spoke about the sponsorship scheme and initiatives under Mission Vatsalya, also announcing a special assessment camp under ADIP and RVY schemes to be held on July 25, 2025 at Dak Bungalow Rajouri, encouraging participation, especially from Divyangs (specially-abled individuals).
Rajiv Khajuria urged all stakeholders to work together for a child-safe environment and congratulated the newly formed group members for taking a step toward child empowerment.
