Chief Secy calls for national level bidding for revival of KGC

JAMMU, Apr 9: Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday today called for holding national level bidding within a month for revival of Kashmir Golf Club (KGC) in Srinagar.
The executive committee of the club, which met here under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, considered hiring an expert consultant for preparing a project report on improving the course area, including relaying of fairways, greens, tees and improving drainage and other basic infrastructure for government’s approval.
Khanday called for holding national level bidding in this regard within a month so that work on the project gets started at an earliest.
KGC is spread over 52 acres of land adjoining the Maulana Azad Road with 18-hole course and has common fairways and a par of 70.
The committee also discussed pay revision of staff and approved enhancement in the salaries of the club employees. It also approved enrollment of as many as 52 members as permanent members of KGC.
Chief Secretary sought greater cooperation of the members for prompt payment to improve the financial position of the club. The meeting also discussed in length the ways and means of raising the revenues and ensuring timely payments for viability of this club.
It was also decided that notices be issued against absentee members.
