JAMMU, Mar 20: Chemistry Department and Law School outplayed their respective opponents in the Table Tennis event, organized during the ongoing Inter Department Tournament (Women) by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at gymnasium hall here today.
In the first match during singles event, Komika Sharma of Chemistry Department lost to Jyoti by 9-11 and 4-11 score, whereas in the second match, Samriti Sharma of Chemistry Department beat Sandeep Kour of Physical Education Department by 11-1 and 11-4 and equalized the game. In doubles, Samiriti and Komika of Chemistry Department thrashed Jyoti and Sandeep of Physical Education Department by 11-9 and 11-8 and registered win.
However, Law School trounced Business School by straight 2-0 sets. Deepansi Isher of Law School beat Manasvi Gupta by 11-6 and 11-4, whereas Bhuvweshwari Bali trounced Surbhi Kakkor by 11-2 and 11-5.
In Carom, Statistics Department beat Law Department by 2-1 sets. Ruchi Kumari thrashed Ila Khajuria of Law Department, whereas Narider Kour of Statistics Department lost to Pallvi Gupta. In the decider game, Ruchi and Pallak of Statistics Department beat Fatima and Rohini and registered win.
Meanwhile, Physical Education Department thrashed Mathematics Department by 2-1. Jyoti Devi beat Rupali Gupta of Mathematics Department, while, Samdeep Kour of Physical Education Department lost to Mehak Kohi. Jyoti and Samdeep Kour of Physical Education Department outplayed Rupali Gupta and Mehak and registered 2-1 sets win over opponent team.
In badminton, Law School outplayed Physics and Electronics by straight 2-0 sets. Deepanshi Isher of Law School beat Razia Thakur by 21-15, whereas in doubles, Deepanshi and Antru routed Razia and Jogrita Sharma of Physics and Electronics Department by 21-17.
MCA Department trounced Statistics Department by 2-0 sets. Akshma Chadha of MCA Department beat Ankita Sharma by 21-7, while, Namita Sharma beat Ruby Sharma of Statistics Department by 21-13.
Law Department beat Mathematics Department by 2-0. Upasana Gupta thrashed Panmeet Kour of Mathematics Department by 21-6, while, Heena Sharma of Law Department outplayed Urvashi by 21-7.
In Chess, Library Science outplayed Mathematics Department by 2-1. Priyanka beat Rajni Kumari, whereas, Sonia Gupta of Mathematics Department thrashed Abidha Sabnam of Library Science and equalized the game. In the decider set, Priyanka beat Rajni Kumari of Mathematics Department and paved way for her team and enter next round of the event.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Amit Sharma, Pankaj Kumar, Taran Pal Singh, Rekha Rani and Anil Sharma.
The tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
