JAMMU, Sept 28: Massive celebrations broke out across Jammu region after India clinched a thrilling 5-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, held in Dubai.
The high-octane match saw early setbacks for India, as Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi sent Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav back to the pavilion for single-digit scores. However, a remarkable rescue effort by Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube steadied the innings. Their crucial partnership turned the tide in India’s favour, guiding the Men in Blue to a memorable win and securing their third consecutive Asia Cup victory over Pakistan.
Soon after the win, euphoric scenes unfolded across the Jammu region. Fans poured into the streets, waving the national flag, shouting slogans of “India-India,” and lighting firecrackers. From city centers to small neighbourhoods, the atmosphere was electric as people danced and celebrated India’s dominant performance.
“In the beginning, we were nervous after losing three early wickets, but Tilak Varma’s innings was simply brilliant and Dube supported him well. We are proud of our team,” said a local cricket fan.
Another enthusiastic supporter added, “It feels like Diwali has come early! India is the strongest team in the world right now, and no one can beat us when we play like this.”
India’s bowlers laid the foundation with disciplined bowling, restricting Pakistan to a modest total, which the batters chased confidently despite early pressure. The comprehensive win further strengthens India’s position as a powerhouse in world cricket.
