KARGIL, June 23: As part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebrations, Captain Anuj Nayyar All Ladakh Football Championship concluded with a grand finale at the Astro Turf Stadium, Kurbathang, Kargil. Organized by the Army in collaboration with the Kargil Football Association, tournament was a tribute to Captain Anuj Nayyar, who laid down his life during the 1999 Kargil War.
The championship featured 24 teams from across Ladakh, showcasing the region’s vibrant youth participation and love for football. The final match between Kullan Heroes and Reallona FC drew a massive crowd, with Reallona FC clinching the title in a high-energy match, scoring an impressive 10 goals.
Brigadier Ashish Anil Joshi, Commander, Kargil Sentinels, was the chief guest, while Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, served as guest of honour. Zubdavi lauded the Army for promoting sports and community development, announcing more sporting events in the months ahead. Trophies and individual performance awards were distributed post-match, closing the event on a high note.
