SAMBA, Nov 7: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today distributed prizes among the winners on the concluding day of Brigadier Rajinder Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister said, “ the best way to pay tribute to the son of soil Brigadier Rajinder Singh could only be by encouraging the youth to achieve their best”, adding that the cricket tournament has successfully engaged the players with this vision.
The Minister congratulated the organisers, winners and all the participants of the memorial tournament. Ganga stressed the importance of sports in the personality development of the youth and expressed hope that they will seize such opportunities and rise to success.
The tournament was organised by Youth Brigade Rajinder Singh and was supported by Department of Youth Services and Sports Samba. The tournament which was inaugurated on 27 October saw participation from eight teams and 96 players.
High School Kharah Madaina lifted the tournament trophy while Parvez and Tariq from the same school were adjudged best batsman and bowler respectively of the series respectively. Picking 8 wickets by conceding 33 runs to his tally Vishav from Higher Secondary School Rahya was adjudged as man of the series.
