Srinagar, Nov 2: Boniyar Premier League (BPL) cricket tournament, which was conducted in Boniyar tehsil of Baramulla district, under the aegis of Army’s Pir Panjal Brigade, concluded today.
A defence spokesman said the final of the tournament was played between Boniyar Blue Star team and Nambla Strikers. The tournament was won by Boniyar Blues Star team in a convincing manner who defeated Nambla Strikers by 5 wickets, he said.
“The tournament which commenced on October 26 was keenly contested by 11 teams from Boniyar and Uri Tehsil. The final was attended by a large crowd from the surrounding areas. The Chief Guest of the event, Brigadier Sanjay Mitra, the Commander of Pir Panjal Brigade, gave away the trophies and cash incentives to the winners and the runners up,” he said.
He extorted the youth present at the event to come forward and participate in such events in large strength in future and assured, all assistance will be given by the army, the defence spokesman added.
