GULMARG, Feb 23: The ongoing Biathlon National Championship which has been taking place over the past few days concluded here today with top athletes from across the country competing in thrilling events.
The event featured both sprint and individual races, with athletes demonstrating their prowess in cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.
In a hard-fought contest, Army (HAWS Gulmarg), Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra Teams emerged as top winners in their respective categories, securing their spots as national champions for the year 2024-2025.
The Biathlon National Championship organised by J&K Biathlon Association under the aegis of Biathlon Association of India in collaboration with HAWS Gulmarg and it attracted athletes from various States, teams from Indian Army, BSF, CRPF and HAWS Gulmarg for the competition.
In Sub-Junior category, Param Pushkar from Maharashtra secured Gold Medal.
Top performers in the championship were Army with rank 1 in Men’s category, CRPF ranked 1st in Women’s category, Jammu and Kashmir ranked 1 in Junior Boys and Girls category and Maharashtra ranked 1 in sub-junior category.
The closing ceremony was attended by various dignitaries including Brigader Deepak Chaube as chief guest, CEO GDA, Assistant Tourism Director Gulmarg, Lt Col Rajeev Dingra and Secretary General Biathlon Association of India.
