SAMBA, July 16: Bhargava Public School, Samba conducted a Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for its faculty members with the objective of equipping teachers with the tools, techniques and insights needed to apply the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in real classroom settings.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. P.K. Dhar, a seasoned educationist with over 30 years of teaching experience. He was welcomed by the Principal, Subhash Kumar Baldotra and the school staff. During the session, Dr. Dhar elaborated on the key components and transformational aspects of NEP-2020, engaging faculty members in meaningful discussions.
Highlighting the historical context, Dr. Dhar traced the evolution of India’s education system-from the Charter Act of 1813, Lord Macaulay’s Minutes, Wood’s Despatch and Hunter Commission, to the Sadler Commission, Wardha Scheme, University Education Commission (1948-49), Education Commission (1964-66), NPE 1968 & 1986, and finally the Kasturirangan Committee (2017-2019) which drafted NEP-2020.
He emphasized that NEP 2020 marks a revolutionary shift in Indian education, aiming to develop holistic, all-rounded individuals. The workshop ran from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, with enthusiastic participation and engagement from the entire faculty.
Principal Subhash Kumar Baldotra briefed the gathering on the 5+3+3+4 structure replacing the old 10+2 system, emphasizing multilingual education, mother tongue instruction, flexibility in subject choices, inclusive education, assessment reforms, and enhanced teacher training.
The session concluded on a positive note, with the school management and staff expressing sincere gratitude to Dr. Dhar for an enriching and impactful workshop.
