JAMMU, Feb 1: The Jammu & Kashmir Wushu team secured an impressive second place in the Men’s Sanda event at the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand, finishing behind the Services team. The team earned a total of two gold, one silver and four bronze medals, a remarkable achievement for the region.
Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Mohd Kamraan were the star performers, each clinching Gold in their respective weight categories. Surya Bhanu outclassed Manipur in the 60kg final, while Mohd Kamraan triumphed over the Services Sports Control Board in the +90kg category. Ayeera Chisti earned a Silver medal after a hard-fought final against MP, showcasing excellent skill and determination.
Earlier, Arjun Sharma, Rohan, Ishant Singh and Saleem Kumar secured Bronze medals in the event, contributing to the team’s overall success. The team was coached by Ajaz Hassan and Lalit Singh, whose guidance was instrumental in their performance.
Secretary of the Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, congratulated the medallists, especially the Gold winners, for their outstanding achievement. President Vijay Saraf, Vice President Ranjeet Kalra and General Secretary Bhavneet also extended their congratulations, praising the team for making the entire UT of J&K proud.
Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo expressed confidence that J&K Wushu would achieve even greater heights in future competitions, including the 20th Asian Games in 2026.
