Bhalessa XI, New Star Chakka script emphatic wins

BHADARWAH, June 10:  Bhalessa XI and New Star Chakka registered resounding wins over their rivals to advance into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Edition of Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah, under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Youth Combined Cricket Club Bhadarwah at Degree College Ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match, Bhalessa XI defeated Bunzwa Stars by a narrow margin of 16 runs in a well fought contest. Batting first, Bhalessa XI scored a decent total of 156 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Junaid and Arafat contributed 37 and 33 runs to the total respectively. For Bunzwa Stars, Rashid was the pick of the bowlers who claimed 3 important wickets.
In reply, Bunzwa Stars managed to score 140 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus lost the match by 16 runs. Gulzar was the top scorer with 48 runs, while Ashraf contributed 36 runs to the total. For Bhalessa XI, Shafqat and Arafat bagged 2 wickets each. Arafat was declared Bajaj Allianz man of the match for his all-round performance.
In another match, New Star Chakka drubbed Gazi Cricket Club Doda by a big margin of 47 runs in an easy contest. Bating first, New Star Chakka scored a fighting total of 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Munazar (46) and Sonu 26 were the main contributors. For Gazi Club Doda, Sandeep and Yawar Ali scalped 2 wickets each.
In reply, Gazi Club bundled out for a paltry total of 91 runs in 16 overs, thus lost the match by 47 runs. Manyal and Jaffar scored 20 and 17 runs respectively. For New Star Chakka, Aquib captured 3 wickets, while Sonul and Munazar took 2 wickets each. For his superb all-round show, Munazar was declared Bajaj Allianz man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Usman and Babar Mughal as umpires, while Saisal was the scorer.
Sameer Shoket Malik, Video Analyst BCCI is the convener of the Tournament, while the organizing committee included Zaheer Khan, chief organizer, Touqeer Bhagwan, Babar Mughal, Irfan Shapoo, Zair Sheikh and Muzzafar Hussain.
