JAMMU, July 6: Over 60 alumni of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu, popularly known as MIET, came together in Bangalore for a vibrant and emotional Alumni Meet. The gathering impressed even local Bangaloreans with the camaraderie and unity displayed by the graduates.
The event was organized by the MIET Alumni Association (MIET AA), which has been formally registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act by Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET. The association has active chapters in multiple cities and countries.
In Bangalore, where over 400 MIET alumni are working in IT and research sectors, the MIET AA chapter conducts regular meets. This year’s event featured Maj Gen S.K. Sharma (Retd), former Principal of MIET (2008-2015), as the chief guest. He praised the alumni for staying connected and upholding MIET’s values even while being far from Jammu.
The Bangalore chapter is led by Mohit Gupta, a 2003 pass-out, currently Director at Cognizant Technology Solutions, who acts as a mentor and elder brother to fellow alumni. His batchmates, Sakshi Gupta (Development Manager, SAP) and Namit Rarotra (Scientist ‘G’, ISRO Bangalore), serve as Vice Presidents, while Yogesh Malhotra is the General Secretary coordinating events.
Special appreciation was given to Sushant Gulati, a 2005 graduate, who provided internships and employment opportunities to five students from the 2021-25 batch. He currently holds a senior position at Big Basket.
Prof. Sahil Sahni, Dean, School of Management and Vijay Bhardwaj, Officer Incharge Alumni Relations, continue to support alumni activities from Jammu. This meet highlighted the strength of the MIET alumni network and inspired calls for other institutions in J&K to follow MIET’s example of building lifelong student connections.
