Balraj Bakshi conferred with State Award

JAMMU, Dec 3: Balraj Bakshi, an eminent Urdu fiction writer, poet and critique has been awarded with J&K State Award for his outstanding contribution in development of Urdu literature and language.
The award includes a cash amount of Rs. 51,000 along with a shawl and a citation. Urdu has been the official language of J&K for well over a century now, but strangely this is for the first time that an Urdu writer has ever been honoured by the J&K UT Government.
Reaz Ahmed, Director Finance, J&K Government handed over the award to Balraj Bakshi at his office at Civil Secretariat Jammu in recognition of his services in Urdu language and literature.
His stories collection ‘Eik Boond Zindagi’ had awarded simultaneously by the Urdu Academies of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the year of 2015 and 2016 respectively. He was also nominated as a member of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State Council for the promotion of Urdu Language.
