Badminton Asso to conduct Lucky Draw matches

JAMMU, Aug 28: As a tribute to the Olympic spirit and its values, the Badminton Association of J&K, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, will celebrate National Sports Day on August 29 and 30 at Badminton Hall, MA Stadium, Jammu. The event is being held to honour the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, who brought immense pride to the nation on the global stage.
The two-day celebration will feature a unique doubles competition with “lucky pairs” in the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-15 and Under-17 age categories. According to the organizers, partners will be decided through a lucky draw, adding excitement and unpredictability to the matches. No entry fee will be charged for participation.
Players are allowed to take part in only one category and are required to report at the venue at 11 am on August 29. Registrations can be made with badminton coaches Touseef Ahmed and Vikram Saini, or with Sukhdev Singh, In-charge Police Line Badminton Hall, Jammu.
The celebration will conclude on August 30 at 4 pm with a prize distribution ceremony. Senior players, former champions and badminton enthusiasts have been invited to join the event and encourage budding shuttlers.
