RAJOURI, Sept 17: Drubbing their rivals convincingly in the summit clashes, Baba Club Thannamandi and Girls High School Palam lifted the boys and girls title trophies respectively in the Rajouri District Volleyball Championship, which concluded, here today.
Shabir Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for Power, CAPD and Forests was the chief guest on the occasion, while Mubasshar Latiefi, SSP Rajouri was the guest of honour. ZPEO Sikander Parvez Khan and Bashir Ahmed Bakshi, president district Volleyball Association Rajouri were the special guests.
Earlier, riding on superb performances from skipper Basharat Khan, Shahzad Raina, Aijaz Wani and Azhar Aziz Raina, Baba Club thrashed Pintoo Club in straight sets by (3-0) in the boys section, while in the girls section, GHS Palam scripted a narrow win over Nawaz Public Higher Secondary School Palam in a close contest by (3-2).
A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament which was organized under the overall supervision of Wali Mohd, organizing secretary.
The matches were officiated by Gulzar Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, Mohd Kabir, Koushal Sharma, Pawan Kumar, Mohd Ayub and Mohd Jameel.
Prominennt among others present on the occasion were Raja Muneer Khan, Abdul Qyoom Mir, Latif Mahajan and Akram Khan.
