Atul to lead Indian Delegation at World Cadet Chess C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 16: Atul Kumar Gupta, Chairman of the Planning and Development Commission of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and a prominent figure from Jammu & Kashmir, has been nominated as the Head of Delegation for the Indian team participating in the World Cadet Chess Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from September 18 to October 1, 2025.
The Indian contingent includes around 30 players. Grandmaster MS Thej Kumar from Karnataka and Woman Grandmaster Arthie Ramaswamy from Tamil Nadu have been appointed as team coaches.
The championship will feature competitions in Under-8, Under-10 and Under-12 categories for both boys and girls, with participation from nearly 80 countries under the banner of FIDE, the world chess federation. The Indian team, sponsored by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), is expected to deliver a strong performance and is seen as a serious medal contender.
