JAMMU, Nov 16: The Department of Youth Services & Sports Jammu organized Inter-Zonal District Level Athletic Meet for All Age Group boys section at Government Women College Gandhi Nagar, here today.
About 165 competitors from all 14 zones of District Jammu are taking part in this meet.
The tournament is being organized under the chairmanship of Gazanfer Ali, Director Youth Services & Sports J&K and under overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
Dr Sangita Nagri, Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar was the chief guest at the inaugural function. The participants took part in various events including 100 metres, 400 metres, 3000 metres, long jump, triple jump & discus throw. The organizing committee members and officials of the District Jammu along with Mool Raj Sharma, Assistant Director YS&S and his team members were also present during the event.
The main focus of the meet was to select the best athletes for the next level of competitions coming ahead.
In Discus Throw under-19 boys, Rohit Kumar of Zone Bishnah, Ujjwal Singh of Zone Marh and Akhil Singh of Zone Dansal stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, whereas in under-17, Parabjot Singh of Bishnah, Karan Narwalia of Bhalwal & Sadiq of Miran Sahib remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in under-14, top three places were secured by Hamid Mohd of Bishnah, Nikhil of Gandhi Nagar and Sachin of GHS Gura Brahmana stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 3000 metres under-19, top three places were clinched by Rohit Kumar of Marh, Sumit Sharma of Dansal and Gourav Sharma of Arnia, whereas in 3000 metres under-17, Vishal Kumar of Dansal, Jasbir Singh of Khour & Nitin of Bishnah stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd and in long jump under-19, Ashish Sharma of Akhnoor, Sahil Sharma of Khour & Parvinder Singh of Bishnah won top three positions, in under-17, Aditya Chib of Bhalwal, Akshay Sharma of Choki Choura and Vansh Sharma of Bishnah secured top three positions posing respectively, besides in under-14, Vansh Rajput of Akhnoor, Daljit Kumar of Satwari and Kuntej of Khour stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In 400 metres under-19, Lovejot Singh of RS Pura, Amit Singh of Jourian and Vishal Kumar of Satwari bagged top three places respectively, while in 400 metres under-17, Tanjot Singh of Bishnah, Abhishek Kumar of Dansal and Sanjeev Kumar of Jammu bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd and in 400 metres under-14, top three positions were clinched by Zabar Hussain of Akhnoor, Vivek of Bishnah and Akshay of VK Savadhya Middle School stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
All the events were officiated by a panel of technical experts from DYS&S, District Jammu.
