JAMMU, Mar 29:Although ace runner and actor Milind Soman stole the spotlight at the Jammu Marathon, which drew thousands of athletes, getting a selfie with the fitness icon proved no easy feat at Maulana Azad Stadium. Participants had to complete at least 20 push-ups in one go to earn a selfie with Soman.
Soman arrived here on Saturday evening to be a part of Jammu Marathon Expo and to attend the event this morning at the jam-packed Maulana Azad Stadium. Fitness freak and actor Gul Panag too joined him at the venue. The presence of Soman and Panag motivated the runners despite the rain, which lashed early morning.
However, several athletes were seen struggling to click a selfie with Soman on the condition of trying at least 20 push-ups in one go. Many athletes succeeded in completing the challenge but, those who failed, still got an opportunity to pose with the ace-runner for a click.
Expressing happiness at being part of the event, Soman described it as a significant milestone for the region hoping that such events would encourage people to embrace running and active living vis-a-vis giving a boost to the tourism industry.
Actress Gul Panag also appreciated the Jammu Tourism and athletes for participating in large numbers making the first edition much more impressive and motivational. Director, Jammu Tourism, Vikas Gupta and Joint Director, Aijaz Qesar appreciated the staff and employees from the department for their key role and hard-work in making the mega event a grand success.
