Army defuses UXO, six unexploded bombs in Kurbathang

KARGIL, Oct 10: The Indian Army has successfully defused an unexploded ordinance (UXO) along with six additional bombs near the Municipal Committee’s Solid Waste Management plant at Kurbathang.
A statement said that the UXO was first spotted by Municipal Committee officials near the waste management facility.
On receiving the report, it said, the District Magistrate informed the Station Commander of 121 Brigade, and the Army’s Forever in Operations Division quickly took action.
The Army’s Sappers safely neutralised the UXO and carried out a thorough sanitization of the area, the statement further said.
“During the operation, six more unexploded bombs were found and destroyed,” it said.
“Following this, the Municipal committee can now resume the halted fencing work at the site,” the statement added.
