Aquib, Sunil shine as J&K eye first-innings lead against Hyderabad

JAMMU, Nov 16: Jammu and Kashmir’s medium pacers Aquib Nabi and Sunil Kumar produced lethal spells following a brilliant innings by Abid Mushtaq as J&K looked to gain a crucial first-innings lead in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group-D clash against Hyderabad at the JKCA Hostel Ground.
Batting first, J&K managed a modest 170 runs in 47.1 overs, with Abid Mushtaq top-scoring 57 off 49 balls, including 9 boundaries. Sahil Lotra (36) and Abdul Samad (34) provided some support, but J&K were struggling at 32/5 at one stage.
In reply, Hyderabad were 88/6 at stumps on Day one, with Tanay Thyagarajan (13) and G Aniketh Reddy (2) at the crease. Skipper Rahul Singh Gehlaut led resistance with 48 off 84 balls.
For J&K, Aquib Nabi took 3 wickets for 30 runs in 11 overs, while Sunil Kumar claimed 2 wickets for 15 runs in 8 overs. For Hyderabad, Tanay and Kartikeya Kak took 3 wickets each and CTL Rakshan bagged 2.
