JAMMU, July 25: Army Public School, Jammu Cantt concluded a three-day Indian Sign Language (ISL) workshop in collaboration with the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), a department dedicated to the empowerment of persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).
The workshop was inaugurated with the ceremonial lamp lighting by Principal Dr. Puneet Kaur, Vice Principal Manmeet Kour and Headmistress Anupama Bahadur. Radhika Bhushan (CCA, Junior Wing) welcomed the dignitaries. Dr. Puneet Kaur, in her address, emphasized that disability is not a limitation but a different perspective on life.
Experts who led the sessions included Sakshi Sharma (ISLRTC, New Delhi), Vishali Raina (ISL teacher, Jammu) and Tulsi Sakhuja (educator, New Delhi). Participants were introduced to essential ISL vocabulary for everyday communication and subject-specific terms for inclusive classrooms. The sessions also covered deaf culture, sign language myths, and the importance of sign language in education.
Interactive games, MCQs, and feedback sessions reinforced learning. The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Manmeet Kour, appreciating the efforts of the resource persons. Participants left inspired and equipped with inclusive communication tools.
