JAMMU, Oct 4: Army Public School Damana, in collaboration with the CBSE Centre of Excellence (COE), Chandigarh, hosted a two-day Capacity Building Programme on Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) in Science on October 3 and 4. The workshop aimed to empower secondary-level science teachers with modern pedagogical tools aligned with CBSE’s vision of moving from rote learning to competency-based education.
The sessions were conducted by resource persons Geeta Sharma, Principal, APS Akhnoor and Avneet Budhraja, Vice Principal, Jammu Sanskriti School. They guided participants through various assessment techniques focused on application, analysis and real-life problem-solving.
The event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Pushpinder Kaur, Vice Principal Shallu Kapoor and the resource persons. Over 34 teachers from different CBSE schools participated actively through discussions, hands-on activities, and idea-sharing sessions.
Principal Kaur emphasized that such workshops help educators transcend textbook teaching to foster curiosity and creativity. The Vice Principal applauded the dedication of educators and encouraged practical classroom implementation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashu, TGT Science, followed by the National Anthem.
