JAMMU, Apr 29: On the occasion of the 42nd AWES (Army Welfare Education Society) Raising Day, Army Public School (APS) Damana hosted a vibrant Youth Parliament Session, engaging students in a dynamic simulation of India’s legislative process. The event aimed to foster democratic values and civic responsibility among the youth.
Brigadier Vivek Puri, Commander Chenab Brigade and Chairman of the School, was the chief guest on the inaugural event. Students from Classes VII to XII were assigned various ministries with specific portfolios and participated in debates on key issues such as educational reforms, mental health awareness, societal norms, climate change and social justice.
The event showcased remarkable leadership and communication skills. Neelakashi Sharma of Class X-B was awarded Best Speaker, while Naman Vivek Puri of Class VIII-A was recognized as Best Delegate. Special Mentions were awarded to Aaradhya Verma (VII-D) and Arun Sharma (X-B) for their notable contributions.
Principal Pushpinder Kaur expressed pride in the students’ enthusiastic participation and their understanding of democratic processes. Event Coordinator Manmohan Singh, PGT Political Science, highlighted the initiative as a step toward meaningful youth engagement in politics.
