UDHAMPUR, Jan 16: Outplaying their rivals in the respective summit clashes, Ankit Sharma and Pallavi Verma lifted men and women title trophies respectively in the Devinder Sharma Memorial District Udhampur Table Tennis Championship which concluded at Badminton Hall Mini Stadium, here today.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA Udhampur was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Balbir Singh, Chief Education Officer Udhampur, Sukhdev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur and Vijay Mohan Raina, retired State Project Director SSA were the guests of honour.
In the men’s final, Ankit Sharma defeated Sourav to bag the title, while in the women’s title clash, Pallavi Verma got better of Charu Sharma to win the title.
Ajay Kumar defeated Saksham Gupta to win sub junior title, while in junior boys, Sahil Malgotra prevailed over Arush Kailu and in junior girls final, Akshima Mahajan defeated Kritika Gupta to clinch the title trophy.
Meanwhile, in men’s doubles, the duo of Ankit Sharma and Nipun Mahajan defeated Kannav Mahajan and Kumar Tarun to win the title, while in junior boys doubles final, the pair of Arush Kailu and Kannav Mahajan outplayed the duo of Rajat Khajuria and Ajay Kumar.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
Earlier, Sunil Sharma presented welcome address.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Shyam Kalsotra, Sukh Dev Singh and Rajeev Dogra.
Vinod Baru, general secretary District Table Tennis Association Udhampur presented vote of thanks.
