PULWAMA, Oct 20: The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Premier League Cricket Tournament commenced today at Dangerpora Padgampora, here organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Development Foundation. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, along with notable figures such as Bilal Parray, Chairman of the Foundation; Superintendent of Police Awantipora Raashid Ahmad; Magistrate Awantipora Shakeel Ahmad; and Assistant Commandant CRPF Vinay Kumar.
The league features numerous cricket clubs and teams from across Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to foster local talent and promote sportsmanship. Dr. Andrabi highlighting the event’s potential to inspire young athletes. She acknowledged the positive influence of the Khelo India mission, which has significantly transformed the sports landscape in the region, allowing local talents to shine at national and international levels.
Expressing pride in the league’s association with the legacy of APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Andrabi emphasized the importance of such initiatives in nurturing the next generation of sports stars.
