Ancient temple reopened at Kakran after 22 years

KULGAM, Oct 18: The ancient and historical temple of Mata Katyayani at Kakran near here was reopened on Wednesday, after 22 years by All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) which reconstructed all the four temples within the complex.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, was the chief guest on the occasion, while MLA Kulgam, MY Tarigami, BJP National Spokesperson Minakshi Lekhi and Shyama Sondi of Art of Living attended the Puran Ahuti and Murti Sthapna function.
It presented a new look with the two Murtis being installed which were gifted by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji of Art of Living.
The temple was once the centre of attraction in the district Kulgam with a hawan being organised for full week there. The local population was enthusiastic to see the Pandits returning to their village temple after 22 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Pandit Chairman APMCC said that the reconstruction programme was initiated on war footing so that the temple is restored to its old glory before the onset of Winter.
He said that APMCC was committed to reopen and reconstruct all the damaged temples of Kashmir valley adding next year APMCC will start the historical Mahadev yatra in Srinagar.
The idols of Mata Sheranwali, Lord Ganesha were installed while the temple of Lord Shiva and Mata Katyayani were refurbished and a yagay shalla reconstructed.
The Havan started on 16th of October and culminated on 17th after installation of the idols.
Prominent among those who attended the function include Capt Narayan Singh, the person who had originally constructed the new temple three decades back, King C Bharati, senior journalist, Chairman RK Bharati Foundation, & KTT, Swami Kumar Ji, Swami Nityanand Ji from Gujrat, Yoginder Singh, Sandeep Bhat, APMCC Kashmir In charge, Chand Ji Bhat, Ashok Singh, Mahinder Singh, Sohan Singh, Vinay Koul, Bita Gosain, JL Pandita, Shashi Bharati, CO 1RR, Ansari CO 18th Bn CRPF, DC Kulgam, SSP Kulgam Mohd Shafi, ASP Kulgam , Jabbar, Addl Dy Com Kulgam Gulzar Ahmed and other dignitaries.
