JAMMU, Dec 15: Ananya Choudhary, a student of the University of Jammu, created history by winning a bronze medal at Khelo India Inter-University Boxing Games (KIIUBG) 2025, held at Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
Ananya began her medal-winning campaign with a commanding victory over Tanuj of Hisar, Haryana, in the quarter-final bout, securing her place in the semi-finals. In a highly competitive semi-final encounter, she displayed exceptional skill, determination and resilience but narrowly lost to Komal Mehar of Uttarakhand, the previous year’s silver medallist.
This achievement marks a significant milestone, as Ananya Choudhary becomes the first senior female boxer from the University of Jammu to win a medal at the Khelo India Inter-University level. Her success reflects her dedication, discipline, and perseverance, while highlighting the rising standard of women’s boxing in Jammu and Kashmir. The University also lauded the efforts of Coach Harinderpal Singh, whose rigorous training, technical guidance and constant mentorship played a crucial role in Ananya’s success.
