JAMMU, Nov 29: Amrita Gupta won Khelo Jammu Team Chess competition in the style of Khelo India, held at Vivek Chess Academy and got cash prize of Rs. 5000 along with certificates and gold medals.
Winning team players were Amrita Gupta (Captain), Nitika Nishad and Prajanya Mahajan.
There was a tough fight between team Surinder & Team Parth for 2nd and 3rd place.
The 2nd place was clinched by Team Surinder with Surinder himself as Captain and others in his team were Darpan Mahajan and Gunjan Nishad; 3rd place was won by team Parth Gupta with Parth as Captain and others in his team were Anjali Nishad and Raesha Thothla.
Atul Kumar Gupta, Chairman, Planning & Development Commission of All India Chess Federation was chief guest and he distributed prizes among the winners.
In this Team Chess Tournament there was a point system for November 2025. Team Amrita with 2 other players Nitika & Prajanya played wonderfully throughout the month and got top place with 75000 points and were declared direct winner.
For 2nd & 3rd place, final clash was between Surinder and Parth with 52000 and 52500 points respectively. Results were announced and it was declared that Surinder Gupta beat Parth Gupta, Raesha Thothla beat Gunjan Nishad and Darpan beat Anjali.
Team Surinder won silver medal & Team Parth won bronze medal.
A total no of 6 teams with 18 players participated in the tournament.
