AITA Talent Series commences

JAMMU, Mar 16: The All India Tennis Association (AITA) Talent Series (TS-7), organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association (JKLTA) under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, commenced today at the Jammu Tennis Complex, providing a significant platform for young tennis enthusiasts from Jammu & Kashmir and neighbouring Punjab.
Er BS Jaggi, Honorary General Secretary of JKLTA, inaugurated the event amid cheers from players, coaches, and spectators. The opening day began with verification of documents, followed by the draws for the Boys’ Under-16 category. Sixteen promising players-12 from J&K and 4 from Punjab-are competing in a showcase of regional talent and skill. Jaggi highlighted the tournament’s importance for grassroot development, saying, “Events like TS-7 are vital for nurturing future champions. These young players represent the bright future of J&K tennis.”
Boys’ U-16 First Round Results: Mayank Gupta (J&K) defeated Khushaansh Mangotra (J&K) by 8-2; Saksham Amla (J&K) beat Krishav Kapoor (PB) by 8-2; Nakul Mehra (J&K) edged Simratjit Singh (J&K) by 8-6; Atharva Dutta (J&K) crushed Yashvir Singh (PB) by 8-2; Samar Singh (PB) stunned Arav Singh (J&K) by 8-1; Ayank Jaiswal (J&K) overcame Prithvi Sharma (J&K)by 8-7 (7-4); Vinamr Gupta (J&K) defeated Iyaan Arora (PB) by 8-1; Naman Tak (J&K) beat Parth Gupta (J&K) by 8-2.
Standout performances included Nakul Mehra’s gritty comeback, Ayank Jaiswal’s tiebreak heroics and Punjab’s Samar Singh delivering an early upset. Semifinals are scheduled for tomorrow.
