JAMMU, Nov 15: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Jammu & Kashmir, has been lauded for its exceptional efforts in conducting the 69th National School Games-2025. The commendation came from Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, during the formal inauguration of the U-19 Girls Taekwondo Championship at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, here.
ADC Jamwal praised the department for making meticulous arrangements and highlighted the Government’s commitment to promoting sports across every corner of the Union Territory. She noted that the medals won by J&K athletes in the ongoing National School Games reflect both efficiency and excellence in organization.
The inauguration was attended by Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Vinakshi Koul; Dronacharya Awardee and Chief Wushu Coach of India, Kuldeep Handoo; Field Officer SGFI, Parichay Mishra; DYSSO Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma and Mushtaq Ahmed.
Vinakshi Koul, in her welcome address, highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir has already secured 17 medals in Football, Wushu, and Boys Taekwondo, with 36 states and UTs participating and around 450 athletes and officials competing.
In today’s U-19 Girls categories, Radhika Sharma of KVS clinched Gold in -63 KG, followed by Simran of Chandigarh (Silver), with Bronze going to Sumrdha Pal (West Bengal) and Vaishnavi (CBSE). In the -68 KG category, Siddhi Atul Bendale of Maharashtra won Gold, Lakshita Malik of Haryana claimed Silver, and Raj Rupa Dey (West Bengal) and Sakshi Meghvanshi (Rajasthan) earned Bronze.
Jammu and Kashmir athletes Zainab Arif (-63 KG) and Arifa (-68 KG) faced tough competition, exiting in the first round. ADC Jamwal encouraged all participants to continue pursuing excellence, emphasizing that such national-level events foster talent, discipline, and sportsmanship.
