JAMMU, Apr 26: Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK), Jammu organised its 2nd Online solo Theatre competition based on epic/mythological characters, here today.
The main motive to organise the competition was to infuse knowledge of epics in the young generation as well as to keep artists busy during lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Raj Bhart, Chairman VKK Jammu said that group is doing a great job by organising such types of competitions online, adding that art has no limitations and it can be performed with limited resources.
According to Rajneesh Gupta, member of the group and well associated with the field of drama, Jammu artists are abundantly talented and can beat the best if provided opportunities.
Rajeshwar Singh Raju, who was the second place winner in first Online contest, clinched 1st place in this competition. He performed the character of Yuyutsu so realistically to stun everyone. The content of the act was in verse form and well written. Pain and agony of Yuyutsu, one of the kaurvas who fought from the side of Pandavas was beautifully expressed by the artist.
Renowned artist of the Union Territory, Santosh Sangra bagged the second place in this competition. She played the character of Gandhari, mother of Kaurvas and gave variety to her expressions and voice pitch, especially when she cursed Lord Krishna.
Pawan Verma who bagged third position in the last competition, stood at the same slot in this competition also. He played the role of Lord Krishna, who taught the lesson on Bhagvad Geeta to Arjun in the battle field of Kurukshetra.
The consolation award was bagged by Tarun Charak, who performed the role of Ashwathama in the competition.With his justified costumes, body makeup and expressive face, he depicted a clear picture of the character.
The performances of Aditya Bhanu, Shammi Dameer, Rishab Manhas and Usha Salathia were also found to be praiseworthy.
