JAMMU, Jan 29: Inter Panchayat Block level competitions were organised today by the Department of Youth Services and Sports(DYSS) at Jammu, Ghagwal, Lakhanpur and Arnia in various sports disciplines for Boys and Girls (U/20).
In Jammu, the competitions were organised in the disciplines of Tug of War and Kabaddi under the patronage of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General of YSS, Jammu and Kashmir under the chairmanship of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Officer Jammu while Poonam Kotwal, ZPEO Satwari was organising secretary of the tournament. The main objectives of these competitions were to select the players for next level of competitions coming ahead. Matches were officiated by Hardev Singh, Ravinder Singh, Dinesh Kumar and Karan.
In these competitions, Panchayat Sohanjana clinched the Tug of War (Boys and Girls) title while in Kabbadi (Boys), Panchayat Parladpur beat Panchayat Dharp by 11-5 points.
In boys under 20 years categories of Tug of War Semi final matches, Panchayat Sohanjana beat Panchayat Laxmanpura by 2-0 set whereas Old Satwari Panchayat beats panchayat Gidder Gallian by 2-0 set.
In Girls under the above mention categories, Panchayat Sohanjana beat Panchayat Parladpur and Panchayat Old Satwari beat Panchayat Bhour Pind by 2-0 set respectively.
In semi final Kabaddi discipline (Boys), Panchayat Parladpur beat Panchayat Bhour Pind by 20-18 points and Panchayat Dharp beat Panchayat Old Satwari by 15-10 points.
In Arnia Zone, Kabaddi and Volleyball matches were played at Block level at Government Higher Secondary School, Arnia wherein Santosh Kumari, Principal GHSS Arnia was Chief guest while matches were officiated by Uttar Kumar Saini (PEM), Kamal Saini (PEM), Rakesh Pumar (PET), Adarsh Kumar (REK). Sat Paul (ZEPO) was overall incharge of the tournament.
Panchayat Chak Majra defeated Panchayat Paaheis by five (05) points in Kabaddi discipline while Panchayat Pindi Charkan defeated Panchayat Allah by two (02) points.
Inter Panchayat sports competition discipline of Tug of War (Boys) and Kho-Kho (Girls) were also organised at Government Middle School Kutlehar , Zone Lakhanpur. The Chairman of Block Keerian Gandyal, Pinky Devi inaugurated the tournament in presence of ZPEO, Lakhanpur Pardeep Singh. In the competition total 97 players including 50 Girls and 47 Boys of six panchayat participated wherein Panchayat Dhanna emerged winner and Panchayat Dhanore secured runner- up position in tug of war discipline.
In Kho-Kho (Girls), Panchayat Dhanna declared winner while Panchayat Dhanore clinched runner-up position.
In inter panchayat block level competition of Kho-Kho was also held at Government Girls High School, Ghagwal wherein Principal Government Higher Secondary School, Ghagwal, Kamla Kumari and Headmaster Thakar Chand of the host school were the Chief guest. 80 players drawn from seven panchayat participated in the event.
In first Semi final Panchayat Jatwal beat Sangwali by huge margin i,e one turn two points while in 2nd Semi final Panchayat Narn defeated Panchayat Ghagwal by two points. The mateches were officiated by Raj Kumar, Kranti Khajuria, Vijay Bushan, Jagmohan Singh an Neeraj.
