J&K batsmen dominate Day-4; but Railways earn 3 points via 1st innings lead

JAMMU, Jan 16: Jammu and Kashmir batsmen showed serenity, composure and promise to dominate the proceedings on Day-4 of the CK Nayudu Under-23 Trophy, while visitors Railways bagged three points by virtue of the vital first innings lead to win the battle by three points to one at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
After conceding a first innings lead of 112 runs to Railways, Jammu and Kashmir were 272/5 in 72.3 overs in their second essay and were 160 runs ahead at the draw of stumps on the fourth and the final day, thus the match ended in a draw. Muneeb Munaf top scored with 83 runs off 122 balls, studded with 12 boundaries, while skipper Vivrant Sharma contributed 75 runs off 148 balls, with the help of 7 fours and one six. Abhishant Bakshi scored 41 off 56 balls including 5 fours and one six, while Lone Nasir Muzaffar made unbeaten 40 runs off 57 balls with the help of one four and 2 big sixes. Sufiyaan also contributed sedate 25 runs off 51 balls including 2 fours.
From Railways, Ayan B Chaudhari took 2 wickets, while Yuvraj, Karthik and Adarsh Singh claimed 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Railways scored 239 runs in their first innings to earn a sizeable lead. Skipper Navneet Virk top scored with 49 runs off 57 balls, studded with 9 boundaries, while Soumyabrata Nath contributed 48 runs off 91 balls with the help of 6 boundaries. Kathik contributed unbeaten 25 runs, while Yuvraj and Ankush Singh scored 27 and 26 runs respectively. Sahim Hasan also chipped in with 25 runs. From Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Kumar and Vivrant Sharma took 3 wickets each, while Trag Jahid Nazir, Taizeem Younis Tak and Majid Yousuf shared 1 wicket apiece.
Earlier, after day-1 washout, Jammu and Kashmir had bundled out for 127 runs in their first innings, with Lone Nasir Muzzafar top scoring with 40 runs and Sunil Kumar contributing 20 runs to the total. Ayan B Chaudhari was the pick of the bowlers who claimed 5 important wickets by conceding 16 runs in his 6.4 overs, while Yuvraj took 3 wickets and Karthik claimed one wicket.
Railways earned 3 points, while Jammu and Kashmir secured one point.
