Sham highlights role of women in socio-economic development

AKHNOOR, Jan 29: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, highlighted the role of womenfolk in overall progress of the country saying that women are equally contributing in all fields.
Speaking at the annual day functions held in the Government Higher Secondary School, Nardi-Bala and Government High School, Sunail, the Minister asked the parents to provide adequate opportunities of education to their girl child so that they become self-reliant besides contributing towards progress of the society. He said Government has created massive educational infrastructure across the State during the past over four years to provide education to the students at their doorsteps.
Advocating introduction of moral science and agriculture subjects from the primary level in schools, the Minster said that these two subjects have great significance as more than 70 per cent population in the State is engaged in the agricultural activities and this can help to enhance the agricultural production and overcome unemployment.
Expressing concern over ever rising crimes against women, the Minister said that entire society has to fight against such offenses.
Meanwhile, the children presented colourful cultural bonanza highlighting social issues and nationalism which enthralled the gathering.
The Minister distributed prizes among the students who excelled in academic as well as extra-curricular activities.
On the occasion, the Minister also felicitated a social worker and prominent Vaid Pt. Puran Chand Sharma in recognition of his selfless services to the mankind in the field of healthcare.
