State level inter-division judo competition gets underway

JAMMU, Jan 1: The State level inter-division judo competitions, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
The competitions were declared open by the Director, Youth Services and Sports, S Jaipal Singh, in an impressive function.
The competitions are being held under the overall supervision of Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports and Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Indra Khashu, Zonal Physical Officer.
Earlier, in judo Under-19 boys, Atul Sharma of Jammu bagged gold in 40 kg category, Manish Khajuria of Jammu claimed gold in 45 kg, Sahi Dogra of Jammu clinched gold in 50 kg category. Gold medals in 55 kg, 60 kg and 65 kg categories went to Sahil Sharma of Jammu, Abhishek of Jammu and Sourav Sharma of Jammu respectively, while Subash Singh of Jammu and Varun of Jammu claimed gold in below 71 and above 71 kg categories.
In Under-17 boys, the gold medals in 40, 45 and 50 kg categories went to Mehraj of Kashmir, Anmol Abrol of Jammu and Kunal Sharma of Jammu respectively, while Sadiq of Kashmir, Muzaffar Ali of Jammu and Karandep Singh of Jammu claimed gold in below, 55, 60 and 65 kg categories. The gold medals in below and above 71 kg went to Farhat Gulzar of Kashmir and Dheeraj Kumar of Jammu respectively.
In Under-14 boys, Panku Kumar of Jammu bagged gold in below 25 kg, Sumedh Singh of Jammu in 30 kg, while Farid Ali of Jammu in below 35 kg. Nikhil Singh of Jammu and Himanyun Lone of Kashmir bagged gold in 40 and 45 kg respectively, while in below and above 50 kg, Parvinder Kumar of Jammu and Bahudin of Jammu claimed gold medals respectively.
Meanwhile, in Under-19 girls, Simriti Bedi of Jammu claimed gold in below 36 kg, Sumati Singh of Jammu bagged it in below 40 kg and Mehvish of Jammu clinched gold in below 44 kg category. In 48, 52 and 56 kg category, Yashika of Jammu, Wani Zarka of Kashmir and Payal Gupta of Jammu claimed gold medals respectively, while in below and above 61 kg, Poonam Sharma of Jammu and Supriya Pandita of Jammu bagged gold medals respectively.
In Under-17 girls, Arpita Puri of Jammu, Aliza Fayaz of Kashmir, Himanshi of Jammu, Shikha Bhau of Jammu, Shairya of Jammu, Mehak Pandita of Jammu and Sabiya of Kashmir claimed gold medals in below, 40, 44, 48, 53, 56, 61 and above 61 kg categories respectively.
Menawhile, in Under-14 girls, Diya Jamwal of Jammu claimed gold in below 23 kg, Tanvi of Jammu claimed gold in below 27 kg, Komal Mahajan of Jammu bagged gold in below 31 kg, while Sakshi Sharma of Jammu and Adhiti Sharma of Jammu clinched gold in below 36 and below 40 kg respectively. Vaishali Choudhary of Jammu and Kabra of Kashmir bagged gold in below and above 44 kg category respectively.
