JAMMU, Dec 23: Bagging man of the match awards for good show, Shashi and Irshad were instrumental in guiding their teams to comfortable victories over their rivals in the CII T-20 Corporate Cricket league gets underway in an impressive function at KC Sports Club ground, here today.
CII, keeping up with its promise to promote sports in J&K is organizing the first edition of CII Corporate cricket league.
12 teams from leading Corporates, Banks and Government departments are vying for the trophy.
The first match of the edition was played between Vodafone XI and Aircel XI.
Aircel XI won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Aircel XI scored a huge total of 224 runs in 20 overs. Irshad and Tarun Gandotra contributed 64 and unbeaten 58 runs respectively. Vikram, Abhinash and Sarfarz claimed 1 wicket each for Vodafone XI.
In reply, Aircel XI restricted Vodafone XI to a total of 140 runs. Vikram and Abhinash scored 50 and 36 runs respectively. Sunil Singh Sambyal took 3 wickets for Aircel XI and won the match by a huge margin of 84 runs. Irshad was declared as man of the match.
In another low scoring match, Simula defeated Sun n Sand by 3 wickets.
Batting first, Sun n Sand scored 119 in 20 overs. Atul and Arjun Chowdhary scored 60 and 24 runs respectively for their team. Mohit and Raman Datta took 2 wickets each for Simula.
Simula chased the target in 19th over and won the match by 3 wickets. Shashi and Ahmer scored 40 and 30 runs respectively. Sahil and Arjun Chowdhary took 2 wickets each. Shashi was given man of the match.
Simula will face Media XI and PDD will take on Engineer’s XI tomorrow.
