Jaise Akhther’s 83 guide Srinagar Queens to win inaugural tie

JAMMU, Dec 17: Jaise Akhther scored brilliant unbeaten 83 runs to help Srinagar Queens XI register easy win over Rajasthan Scorchers in the opening match of the ongoing Chief Minister’s T20 Premier League, being jointly organized by J&K Police HG/CD/SDRF and State Sports Council at Parade ground, here.
In the inaugural match, Sheetal Nanda, District Dev-elopment Comm-issioner Samba was the chief guest, while Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner Jammu Municipality was the guest of honour.
The chief guest and the guest of honour were introduced with the participating teams in the presence of SSP Rashmi Wazir, SSP Shabir, Chief Prosecuting Officer Rajesh Gill and DySP Hafeez.
In the first match, Srinagar XI defeated Rajasthan Scorchers XI by 4 wickets.
Batting first, Rajasthan Scorchers scored 123 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs with Pooja Naik (45), Jansi Lakshmi (29) and Jaya (25) being the main scorers. From bowling side, Shathira Jessy took 2 wickets, while Bisma, Ruksara and Bushra claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Srinagar Queens rode on a magnificent 83 runs by Jaise Akhter and chased the target in 12 overs, losing 2 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Neelam also contributed 29 runs to the total. Jaise Akhthar was adjudged as the woman of the match.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Jammu Princess will take on Mumbai Mermaids at 9.30 am, while Delhi Angels will face Chennai Sharks at 1.30 pm.
