JAMMU, Dec 12: CBSE Panchkula organised the two days Workshop on Capacity Building in Social Sciences at Jodhamal Public School, here.
CBSE in its endeavour to prepare all CBSE School teachers keeps conducting the CBSE Workshops in each city and at Jammu under the leadership of the CBSE City Coordinator Trilok Singh Bist CBSE has already conducted Workshops at Rich Harvest, JKPS,Vidya Bharti, Model Academy, JP World, Jammu Sanskriti and Jodhamal on different subjects to benefit the teachers of the region.
For the two days Capacity Building Workshop at Jodhamal, K C Randhawa, Vice Principal from Jalandhar and Vinod Kumar Bhatia the Principal of KD International School, Tarantaran was the Resource Person.
51 teachers from different schools of Jammu participated in this Workshop.
The first day of the Workshop saw five sessions starting from the Social Science in the light of NCF 2005; Objectives of teaching Social Sciences at Secondary Level; Using Multiple Intelligence to measure the capability of a child and discussion on the teaching strategies for each intelligence; Different Methods of teaching Social Science as Direct Information, Demonstration, or Indirect Instruction, Interactive Lecture, Deductive Method, suggestive methods, Laboratory Method, Field Study Method, Project Method, Problem Solving Method, Inductive Method and Discovery Method etc.
Resource Person, Randhawa discussed in an interactive session as how to use map in the teaching of Social Science as an individual activity and each teacher gave his/her suggestion. Types of maps were discussed as Political Map, Topological Map, Physical Map, Climate Map, Road Map, Cultural Map, Economic & Geographical Map etc. Vinod Kumar Bhatia the second resource person talked on the Interdisciplinary Approach in Social Science.
Second day was the Content Lesson Observation Plan which was discussed in groups and each team came up with one topic to teach the rest and each team enjoyed doing this and a very good feedback was prepared.
Mr. Randhawa connected the teaching of the subject with listening of the music and meditation and gave a lot of video presentations to tell the teachers to first recapitulate the previous knowledge and then talk of new topic and see what is there previous knowledge of the topic and finally to teach the topic to the understanding of the students without directly jumping on the topic.The complete Workshop was coordinated by HoD Social Science Bhawna Madaan.
